As part of the band curriculum at CFHS all students select, rehearse, and perform either a solo or ensemble piece.

Participation in the WSMA Solo & Ensemble festival is optional but strongly encouraged. Students who do not participate in the festival will instead perform their pieces as part of our informal performance event at school.


Students can view the repertoire lists by using the links above. Be sure to confirm with Mr. Renneke to make sure your piece is eligible!

Project Requirements

  1. All students in band will select, rehearse, and perform either a solo or ensemble piece.
  2. Students can decide to perform either at the District Festival on April 2 or during the in-school performance.
  3. Students who elect to perform at the District Festival are assessed and evaluated by the festival adjudicator. A festival performance concludes the project.
  4. Students who elect to perform during the in-school performance have a few different performance opportunities. See the rubric below.
