Good evening CFHS Band Family!
We are days away from the end of the marching band season and there are a few items that we need to make sure you are aware of before everything wraps up.
1. Itinerary for Youth in Music is on the website. Note that this is just a one day trip, there and back on Saturday.
2. Friday night after the football game we will be having some food and our end-of-season awards in the cafeteria. This event is just for our students though we will need a few parents who would be willing to help us serve some food and get things organized.
3. Speaking of the end-of-season awards, students need to submit their nominations for the awards!
CFHS Band Fam:
If you need a smaller size of the white Marching Cardinal performance shirt, they are here!
Bring in your washed shirt and I'll trade you for a smaller size.
CFHS Band Family:
1. Itinerary is on the website. http://www.cfhsbands.org/itineraries.html
2. Parent Helpers have been added to a spreadsheet. You can remind yourself what you volunteered for, as well as join the fun - it's not too late! https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1sZe_dVA6qO...
3. Bus List is available for students to add their names. Only students can modify this spreadsheet. https://docs.google.com/a/chipfalls.org/spreadshee...
4. If you pre-ordered the meal deal, make sure you bring me your money.
5. Last day to order Marching Cardinal Spirit Wear is Friday! Minimum order amounts need to be met or the price will change. https://goo.gl/forms/xb5t2pVRATF3FNeL2
6. Smaller sizes of the white Marching Cardinal performance shirt have been ordered but won't arrive in time for the weekend. Remember to have your clean white Marching Cardinal performance shirt to wear under your uniform!
7. Remember to wear long black socks with your shoes.
8. Let's have fun out there.
Performance Wear for Marching Cardinal Fans
We've gotten a lot of positive comments about the white performance shirts the band wore during the Pure Water Days parade and underneath their uniforms. Unfortunately for all of our Marching Cardinal families these great white shirts are part of our performance uniform and are for current Marching Cardinals only.
But we heard you and now we have a few great options just for families, friends, and fans of the Marching Cardinals!
Check out the options below. Order deadline is Friday, September 15.
Orders should arrive approximately two weeks later.
Hello CFHS Band Family!
Because of a change in our rehearsal schedule on Friday, we will be able to use Dorais Field all afternoon. We'd like to invite our parents and friends who are available to stop out and see what we have accomplished this week - if you are free, consider yourself invited to stop by the field around 4:45pm tomorrow and we will put on an impromptu performance for you!
The itinerary for Saturday's parade is on the website: http://www.cfhsbands.org/itineraries.html
BATTERY PERCUSSIONISTS: A cool device you might consider purchasing to help alleviate back strain: http://www.drumbelt.com/
CFHS Band Family:
Just a reminder that the Activities Code Meeting is tonight at 6:30pm in the HS Auditorium. All 9th grade students (and students new to the district) and their parent(s)/guardian(s) should attend.
There will be no "official" marching band team meeting after the code meeting, but I'll be in the band room during that time to answer questions. Feel free to stop in, though there will be no formal presentation.
At 8:00pm we will get ready to play the school song at the 8:15 kick-off event. That will last about 5 minutes and then we all go home! ALL students can come and play pep band, not just those at the code meeting.
See you there!
CFHS Band Family!
Please read this full email, even if you think it doesn't apply to you. Spoiler alert - brand new pep band opportunity at the end of the email...
The full show is done! I have uploaded parts and a recording onto the website. Please note: the opener, ballad, and closer are all the same document - one file. Battery parts will arrive in the next few days.
Music check #3 (the closer) should be submitted by August 4. Again, this is a low-stress, no-pressure scenario. Just want to hear you sight-reading through the music before camp starts.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FRESHMEN/NEW STUDENTS:
From the High School Activities Director:
Chi-Hi's Fall Competitive Activities Code Meeting will be held on Monday, July 31st, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in the High School auditorium.
All incoming freshmen MUST attend with a parent/guardian if they are planning to participate in a fall competitive activity, as well as any other Chi-Hi student, or new students, who would like to participate in a fall competitive activity and has not attended a previous meeting. Fees can be paid in the student services office this night from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Fees are $20 per activity.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL FAMILIES:
After the Code Meeting at 6:30pm, there are Team Meetings for all fall activities at 7:15pm. New this year - there will be NO marching band team meeting. The reason for this is that many of you are also in fall activities and you are "double booked". I have traditionally ran the team meeting twice so that everyone can get the information, but with band camp starting a week later I will have plenty of time to share volunteering opportunities with you.
Another reason there will be no marching band team meeting is something new...
CODE MEETING PEP BAND!!!!
At 8:15pm (after the team meetings) Mr. Thompson is starting a new "kick-off" wrap-up for the end of the night. He would like the band to play the school song and generally rock out at the end of the code meeting. So, we need all hands on deck for the school song and whatever else we might want to play. This will be a short kick-off at the end of the evening, probably only last 15 minutes or so.
As always, let me know if you have questions!
On July 6 a group of parents met at Club MTC to discuss the marching band prop needs for the upcoming season. We had a great mix of senior, junior, sophomore parents and there was some great discussion about both designing and building props and the "lay of the land".
July 27 is our design phase. We would love to have you join the Design Team. We will be meeting to think through how we can make it work, be functional, be transportable, and be impactful!
We have a number of parents who were at the first meeting. If you can spare some time to help with this project you can get in touch with any of these parents or contact Mr. Renneke directly. We would love - and really need - your help!

Good morning CFHS Band Family!
This message is for parents who volunteered to help at the Memorial Day Parade.
You can review your volunteer position here:
Thank you for your help! The Patriotic Council is very appreciative that band parents are willing to assist with a few parade positions, and my heart is always full knowing that we can count on band parents to step forward and make this work.
Parade Intersection People:
If you could be at your intersection/location by 10am, that would be great. I have a bag full of reflective safety vests - you can wear one, or not. The only "job" is helping to make sure that the intersection/street stays clear of people. We don't want children, families, chairs, etc. being setup in the intersections and in the street. People are welcome to stand in the intersection momentarily to take pictures, say hello to someone, wave at the fire truck, etc. but we want to keep it generally clear. Most people "get it".
Wreath Location People: Help prevent people from sitting in front of where the wreath goes, or ask them to move if they are already set-up.
I will be dropping my Jeep with the flat band trailer at Irvine Park by the band shell earlier on Monday. The trailer will have the water, music stands, and inside my car are uniform parts, etc. Because the whole parade continues into Irvine Park towards the band shell, we will distribute water in the band shell lot. There are 10 of you who will help pass out water to 200. Basically you just start smiling and throwing water bottles at the kids as they pass by. The "big job" is helping to make sure everyone gets a bottle - no one gets to say "I'm fine" - they all get a bottle!
If you have questions feel free to text me through the Remind app.
I've put together a few dates for any interested student to stop by the high school over the summer and work on marching fundamentals while also having a little fun.
We will spend the first hour working on the fundamentals of marching, proper technique, conditioning, and more. Then, we will spend the second hour playing Ultimate Frisbee, because why not?
All Marching Cardinals are welcome from every grade and section. As a favor I'd ask that you either shoot me an email or send me a text via Remind so that I know about how many people to plan for. We will meet rain or shine, so come prepared for ULTIMATE.
This blog is intended to serve as a collection of announcements and information for current students and their families.
