Varsity Band Fam: Below are some resources that might prove practical in your personal preparation of our concert music. Additionally, this is our rehearsal plan and practice targets. These will be shared with you in class, but the practice targets will help you focus your personal preparation. Farandole (Daehn)

Dear Music Parents,
We are in the last few days before the fabulous Supershow featuring our very own Harmonics, and WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! There are a few more volunteer slots to fill with concessions and later ushering, but we ESPECIALLY need help with donations of puppy chow and baked goods. I am told that these sweets are very popular and sell out fast. We are hosting a number of other area show choirs, and we want to make sure things run as smoothly as possible. Chi Hi has a great reputation of hosting events that are successful and where everyone feels welcome. Thank you to those of you already signed up-links are below! Looking ahead to the following Saturday, we are still in need of a handful of parents to help to prepare food for the singers involved in Singing in Wisconsin. What a weekend - thank you to everyone who made the Big Trip a big success! A few quick housekeeping items as we wrap up our marching band unit:
We will be receiving the video from Youth in Music later this week and will share it with you. When the photos from Whitewater are available, we will also let you know about how to order those. Whew! Let me know if you have any questions. MR Hello CFHS Band Family:
A few people have been asking for information about the Music Department Performance Tour this February to New Orleans. A collection of resources has been assembled at www.chihimusictrip.com for you to look over. All of the information on the webpage has been discussed in class and/or passed out to students - so parents, it might be a good time to ask your student if they have this information! :) The 'best' resource is the tri-fold brochure that we handed out to students at the beginning of the year. It contains trip costs, payment dates, and more. Feel free to ask questions. The first deposit of $200 is due on Monday, October 8, along with the signed permission slip and trip agreement form. You can download these documents from the above website, or pick up hard copies on one of the trip bulletin boards in the band room. They were also handed out in class. MR Good morning CFHS Band Family!
Just another of a dozen reminders - the Club's Choice fundraiser is being delivered today! It can be picked up after school between 3:45pm and 4:15pm. The items arrive frozen which is why it is important they get picked up in that time frame. We aren't able to store anything here after 4:15pm. Students can stop down at the end of the day, grab the order, and take the bus home - that is perfectly fine. Or, someone can swing by between 3:45 and 4:15pm and pick it up. The orders will be in the auditorium, right across the hall from the band room. MR Good evening CFHS Band Family:
We are in the final two weeks of our marching band season - it is amazing how much the show has come together, the students have improved, and the time has flown by! A nearly-officially-complete itinerary for October 13-14 has been posted on the website. www.cfhsbands.org/itineraries It is going to be an amazing weekend! We do need some parent help to make sure things run smoothly and keep us moving on schedule. (First, thank you to the parents who have already volunteered as chaperones and on-field help for these final few performances!) We are looking for 2 more parents who would be willing to drive down to Sun Prairie and help set-up and prepare dinner. The band will be coming from Minneapolis and when we arrive in Sun Prairie we will have dinner ready to go. There are 4 people already driving directly to Sun Prairie, so you would have plenty of hands to make light work. Dinner is hot dogs, fruit, chips... easy stuff. If you would be willing to help, please let me know this week so we can plan accordingly! Thanks for considering. This season has been so special already - I can't wait to see what the next two weeks bring! MR Hello Parent Volunteers,
Our Music Along the Chippewa Home Show event is this Saturday! Thank you so much to the MANY people that have stepped forward to donate their time and other items needed to make this day a success for our music department! We have a FEW key spots that need to be filled by Saturday: MOST IMPORTANT!!! We need 5 more people for the later concessions slot, beginning at 7:30. Please, Orchestra and Choir parents, step up to fill this spot. This is the time that the Marching Cardinals actually perform, so band parents would like to be watching their students. We need 2 driveway gatekeepers to manage the gate as bands are getting ready to enter the stadium area. We still need 2 kitchen helpers from 6-10. We need one more pie tent attendant for the second time slot When you arrive for your shift or to bring your items, please check in at the volunteer tent near the concession stand. Food items can be checked in at the volunteer stand as well. If your donated item/food is for the hospitality room, you can then drop it off in the cafeteria area inside the school. The volunteer check in people will direct you. Again thank you all so much. We would not be able to host this successful and amazing event without your help! https://www.signupgenius.com/go/30e0e4fa5a729abff2-marching Sherry Friedel Vice President, CFMA |
