To help explain our upcoming Lesson Project, we have put together an informative 6-minute video that walks you through the what, why, and how.
Q2 Lesson Project Video If you still have questions after watching the video, please let me know. MR CFHS Band Family:
MR Thank you for supporting all of the students involved with the Chi-Hi Music Department! There is a CFMA Member Meeting this Thursday, October 20th at 7:00 p.m. in the Choir Room. We will be discussing the Home Show as well as upcoming events.
Also, a reminder that we are looking for volunteers to help with the Harmonics SuperShow on November 5th. Have a great week! Heather Hunt CFMA President Hello.
I just received a message from the freight company. After a lengthy discussion and one snapped pencil, the uniforms will be arriving on Thursday around 11:00am to mid-afternoon. We will need anyone who is available to help out with the unboxing. No need to let me know - just show up at 4pm and we will get to work. The plan of attack: Thursday afternoon - students with study halls will help move and prep our work space. Thursday after school - anyone able to help will unbox and organize the uniforms. Depending on how quickly it goes, if a student was helping us unbox they could potentially try on their uniform Thursday after school. Friday during lunch - fitting kids who can't make it after school Friday during study halls - fitting kids who can't make it after school Friday after school - fitting the entire band into uniforms. Please let me know if you will be fitting your uniform after practice or a game on Friday. I'll be here all night but it would be nice to know what times we are working with. MR The new band uniforms will arrive on Thursday.
What this means for you -
Be patient on Friday. 10th, 11th, and 12th graders should have a uniform already "assigned" to them - the one you were fitted in last spring. Hopefully it fits you. If it does not fit we will find you a different one. Freshmen, you will be fitted from the additional new uniforms. That process will be a little more complicated. Patience. I am honestly in shock that this is happening. We have a tracking number. This is real. MR Good morning CFHS Band Family:
A pink sheet of paper was distributed to students today during class. Additional hard copies are available on the band office door. This pink sheet is the Parent/Student agreement for participating in the Nashville Performance Tour in April 2017. It covers refund and behavior policies and expectations. This signed pink form is due back by October 14 with your initial deposit of $200 to secure your participation on the Nashville Performance Tour. I will be working to have student accounts updated and accurate by the end of today (Friday) to assist you with seeing how much money is already in your account and how much you have earned from fundraising. If you have any questions please let me know. MR Good morning CFHS Band family!
I've been up for a while this morning because my mind and heart are racing simultaneously with excitement and stress! First things first - the uniforms are now expected to ship next WEDNESDAY. WHICH MEANS THEY WOULD GET HERE ON THURSDAY. AND THEN WE WOULD HAVE THEM FOR STATE. My oh my. Keep every finger crossed for the next 144 hours. If I have to drive down to Missouri and put them in the back of my car - we will have those uniforms. If you are involved in two things on Saturday (like cross country, or the U.S. Women's gymnastics event) then keep reading. If you are not doing two things on Saturday, you can stop reading this email and instead go light a candle for the uniforms to arrive. CROSS COUNTRY: I've been talking with Coach Swanson and it sounds like you should be able to do both events. You will need to check your schedules and the race plan, etc. but if the latest you leave Chippewa is noon on Saturday you would get to Minneapolis at 1:30pm with 45 minutes to spare. You should make sure your instrument is loaded on the trailer after Friday's football game and then you should be SURE to find a RESPONSIBLE friend who can unload, unpack, and carry your instrument into the stadium for you. You should change into your uniform on the drive to Minneapolis. Realistically you will be meeting us in the tunnel - rely on the Youth in Music volunteers to help you get to the right spot. US OLYMPIC GYMNASTICS: I don't know many details about this event but it sounds like you could be picked up by your parents during the dinner break at 5pm. That would be the "simple" option as we will all be in a group in a guaranteed location - inside the stadium. A staff member can escort you as a group to the exit and wait outside with you for your parents. We will need to coordinate which exit/street we would be meeting on. The other option is for your parents to pick you up around 3:00pm when we are in the parking lot and re-loading the trailer. The only hang-up with this option is that our travel and pack time might fluctuate. Talk with your families and come up with a plan. My preference is 5pm, because then I can control more variables. Let me know what works for your situation. MR |
