CFHS Band Parents!
A quick update for you all: itineraries for all of our upcoming performances and competitions are posted on the website, here: http://www.cfhsbands.org/itineraries.html I try and upload "the plan" about a week in advance - one week is usually as far in advance as the directors (and sometimes the organizers) get all the details squared away. As much as I can, I have started uploading them now. You might notice some items are highlighted, or labeled TBD - that is just because we have a good guess but don't know for sure yet. If you ever have questions about an itinerary, let me know. We also use REMIND to send out travel updates, such as when we are departing an event or our return time to the high school. http://www.cfhsbands.org/remind.html VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Your first chance to get involved is here! I'm looking for a parent or two to help "chair" the Ice Cream Social. Your primary responsibility would be ordering the ice cream and then setting up the bowls and spoons before the event. (You could also recruit some other volunteers to help scoop!) If you are interested please let me know! My wife, Kristin Renneke, is working on some final details and logistics for chaperoning, helping move props, feeding kids, fitting uniforms, and more. We have a few parents who have already stepped forward to run these different committees, but we can always use more help. While there is no "official" marching band team meeting tonight at 7:15pm I'll be in the band room and ready to answer any questions - Kristin will also be there if you want to learn more! This is becoming real - camp starts in one week! Love it! Mike Renneke Barry Hitt CFHS Bands CFHS Band Family:
Just a reminder that the Activities Code Meeting is tonight at 6:30pm in the HS Auditorium. All 9th grade students (and students new to the district) and their parent(s)/guardian(s) should attend. There will be no "official" marching band team meeting after the code meeting, but I'll be in the band room during that time to answer questions. Feel free to stop in, though there will be no formal presentation. At 8:00pm we will get ready to play the school song at the 8:15 kick-off event. That will last about 5 minutes and then we all go home! ALL students can come and play pep band, not just those at the code meeting. See you there! MR CFHS Band Parents, this post is just for you. I wanted to update you on a few details as we near the start of our 35th band camp! POST-REHEARSAL TREATS: In the past we have had awesome and generous parents (or groups of parents!) who have brought treats for the students at the end of rehearsal. The students are always appreciative and it is a great way to wrap-up a long hard day of music and marching. To help keep things organized as to who is bringing what and when, Kristin Renneke has put together a Google Doc that you can add your name to if you are interested! If you'd rather, you are more than welcome to just email me with your date of choice as well. BLACK SHOES: Last season we purchased a pair of black marching shoes for nearly every student who requested one. Because the wear and tear these shoes go through is different for every student we have decided to not purchase another bulk order of shoes this year. This leaves you a with a few different options:
WHAT TO BRING TO REHEARSAL: A quick, handy list of things your student will want to bring with them every day to band camp!
Any questions, as always - ask! MR CFHS Band Family!
Please read this full email, even if you think it doesn't apply to you. Spoiler alert - brand new pep band opportunity at the end of the email... The full show is done! I have uploaded parts and a recording onto the website. Please note: the opener, ballad, and closer are all the same document - one file. Battery parts will arrive in the next few days. http://www.cfhsbands.org/marching.html Music check #3 (the closer) should be submitted by August 4. Again, this is a low-stress, no-pressure scenario. Just want to hear you sight-reading through the music before camp starts. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FRESHMEN/NEW STUDENTS: From the High School Activities Director: Chi-Hi's Fall Competitive Activities Code Meeting will be held on Monday, July 31st, 2017, at 6:30 p.m. in the High School auditorium. All incoming freshmen MUST attend with a parent/guardian if they are planning to participate in a fall competitive activity, as well as any other Chi-Hi student, or new students, who would like to participate in a fall competitive activity and has not attended a previous meeting. Fees can be paid in the student services office this night from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. Fees are $20 per activity. IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR ALL FAMILIES: After the Code Meeting at 6:30pm, there are Team Meetings for all fall activities at 7:15pm. New this year - there will be NO marching band team meeting. The reason for this is that many of you are also in fall activities and you are "double booked". I have traditionally ran the team meeting twice so that everyone can get the information, but with band camp starting a week later I will have plenty of time to share volunteering opportunities with you. Another reason there will be no marching band team meeting is something new... CODE MEETING PEP BAND!!!! At 8:15pm (after the team meetings) Mr. Thompson is starting a new "kick-off" wrap-up for the end of the night. He would like the band to play the school song and generally rock out at the end of the code meeting. So, we need all hands on deck for the school song and whatever else we might want to play. This will be a short kick-off at the end of the evening, probably only last 15 minutes or so. To summarize:
As always, let me know if you have questions! Michael Renneke CFHS Bands www.cfhsbands.org 715-726-2406 x1467 Good morning CFHS Band Family!
I hope your summer has been both relaxing and productive. I was able to spend a little time at the family cabin for the 4th of July, and now I am back and in "school mode" getting ready for our first get-together on August 7 - which is in 28 days! I hope this isn't the first communication you have received this summer. I was granted access to next year's rosters (literally this morning!) and wanted to send out a quick recap of information that has been shared since last spring. As always, if you have any questions please contact me! rennekml@chipfalls.org INFORMATION RECAP
If this doesn't answer all of your questions, please send an email my way and I will be happy to help out. I'll be at school on July 11 from 9am until 12pm if you would like to stop by and say hi, pick up your school-owned instrument, or ask questions. Michael Renneke & Barry Hitt Directors, CFHS Bands rennekml@chipfalls.org P.S. All of the Infinite Campus messages we send out are always archived on the band website blog, so you can easily reference past information! http://www.cfhsbands.org/blog On July 6 a group of parents met at Club MTC to discuss the marching band prop needs for the upcoming season. We had a great mix of senior, junior, sophomore parents and there was some great discussion about both designing and building props and the "lay of the land".
July 27 is our design phase. We would love to have you join the Design Team. We will be meeting to think through how we can make it work, be functional, be transportable, and be impactful!
We have a number of parents who were at the first meeting. If you can spare some time to help with this project you can get in touch with any of these parents or contact Mr. Renneke directly. We would love - and really need - your help! Michael Renneke (director) rennekml@chipfalls.org Rob and Tamara Harris Tammy and Dan Modl Roxanne Mewhorter Meg McLaughlin Kari Holm |
