This was an IC message sent out on May 28, 2017 at 7:24am.Good morning CFHS Band Family!
This message is for parents who volunteered to help at the Memorial Day Parade. You can review your volunteer position here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1z58R7qGr8XlRLQ... Thank you for your help! The Patriotic Council is very appreciative that band parents are willing to assist with a few parade positions, and my heart is always full knowing that we can count on band parents to step forward and make this work. Parade Intersection People: If you could be at your intersection/location by 10am, that would be great. I have a bag full of reflective safety vests - you can wear one, or not. The only "job" is helping to make sure that the intersection/street stays clear of people. We don't want children, families, chairs, etc. being setup in the intersections and in the street. People are welcome to stand in the intersection momentarily to take pictures, say hello to someone, wave at the fire truck, etc. but we want to keep it generally clear. Most people "get it". Wreath Location People: Help prevent people from sitting in front of where the wreath goes, or ask them to move if they are already set-up. Water People: I will be dropping my Jeep with the flat band trailer at Irvine Park by the band shell earlier on Monday. The trailer will have the water, music stands, and inside my car are uniform parts, etc. Because the whole parade continues into Irvine Park towards the band shell, we will distribute water in the band shell lot. There are 10 of you who will help pass out water to 200. Basically you just start smiling and throwing water bottles at the kids as they pass by. The "big job" is helping to make sure everyone gets a bottle - no one gets to say "I'm fine" - they all get a bottle! If you have questions feel free to text me through the Remind app. http://www.cfhsbands.org/remind.html Thanks! MR I've put together a few dates for any interested student to stop by the high school over the summer and work on marching fundamentals while also having a little fun. We will spend the first hour working on the fundamentals of marching, proper technique, conditioning, and more. Then, we will spend the second hour playing Ultimate Frisbee, because why not?
All Marching Cardinals are welcome from every grade and section. As a favor I'd ask that you either shoot me an email or send me a text via Remind so that I know about how many people to plan for. We will meet rain or shine, so come prepared for ULTIMATE. The schedule for the Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony was originally shared in the program from the Spring Band Concert. It has been repeated here for your convenience.
UPDATE: Because Bridgewater is still under construction, we recommend parents pick students up at Parkview Elementary. Friday, May 26, 2017 Your uniform and instrument go home with you. If anything happens to your uniform, you will be responsible for the full replacement cost. Memorial Day, May 29, 2017 9:15am HS Students and 8th Graders meet in the parking lot at BMO Bank/Central Lutheran Church. Warm-up 10:00am Parade line-up 10:15am Parade begins Approx. 11:00am Parade ends in Irvine Park. 8th graders meet families/rides in the parking lot at either Parkview, or fight traffic into Irvine. HS students continue into Irvine for ceremony at bandshell. 11:15am Ceremony begins at Irvine Park Bandshell. Approx. 12:00pm Ceremony ends Students are dismissed LOCATION
We are posted at the Carson Park sign on the corner of Menomonie and Water street. SET-UP We are setting up at 9am on Sunday. We should be done approximately between 12:30pm and 1:30pm, depending on the amount of runners, stamina, and whatever else might be going on. Let the good times roll! WHAT ARE WE DOING We will be playing pep band music, some jazz band tunes (?) and then blasting music through our speaker system. We are looking for a generator if anyone has one we can borrow for the morning. EQUIPMENT Bring your instrument home with you this weekend and bring it with you on Sunday. PARKING Students should park either at the Clarion Hotel and ride the shuttle (no idea how this works), or park in the Hobbs Ice Arena parking lot (tell the cops you are with the band) and then walk to the Carson Park Sign. OTHER STUFF The marathon is providing some water and snacks. Ren will bring a cooler with pop/water. If people want to bring other food or snacks to share that would be great. Depending on the weather you might want to bring a sunshade/canopy, camping chair, etc. |
