NEWS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS

Butter Braid Fundraiser Begins!

3/13/2019

Butter Braids are one of the easiest things that the band sells each year - they taste AMAZING and are so easy to make. Kristin and I always keeps a few in the freezer "just in case" we have family or friends stop by and need a sweet treat to share.

The fundraiser officially kicked off on Tuesday, March 12.

You can sell Butter Braids from now until March 26 when the orders need to be turned in to Mr. Renneke.

Butter Braids are delivered on April 18, which is now a full day of school (used to be an Early Release) - be sure to pick them up before you leave! They arrive frozen, so you will need to make arrangements to bring them home; you don't want them to thaw and explode in the car!

Your profits from the Butter Braid fundraiser can be used towards next year's band fee, the music department trip in 2021, purchasing music for solo & ensemble, buying reeds, etc.

If you have any questions, please see Mr. Renneke.

Who do I sell Butter Braids to?

Everyone loves Butter Braids. A good starting place of people to get in touch with is your family, friends, and neighbors - but don't forget about other people in your life!
  • Coaches/teams
  • High School staff (teachers, custodians, secretaries, support staff)
  • Church
  • Co-workers (either your own, or your parents' co-workers!)

2019-2020 Wind Ensemble Auditions

3/11/2019

All students interested in auditioning for the Wind Ensemble for next school year will submit a video audition.

A few of the positive reasons we are using video auditions:
  • You are able to submit your best performance, demonstrating your proficiency.
  • You are able to make your recording on your own time.
  • You are assessed on your best performance.

With all of the snow days, we weren't able to establish a consistent audition timeline, so this is out next best option.

All video auditions must be submitted to Mr. Renneke no later than Wednesday, March 20. Please be aware that this is in the middle of spring break.

Any auditions that are time-stamped after March 20 will not be considered.

Video Audition Requirements

  1. Your video must show you performing - include your fingers/hands, sticking, etc.
  2. You may record as many auditions as you like, but only submit your best one.
  3. The first video you submit will be the one that is considered for your audition.
  4. Be sure to test the audio on your video to make sure you can be heard.
  5. Try to limit background distractions (extraneous noise, a family member vacuuming, two cats fighting in an alley, etc.)
  6. Video record yourself performing the complete etude. No scales are required.
  7. You are allowed to have a metronome running during your recording, but it should be audible on the recording. (A metronome is  not required, but it is allowed.)

Leadership Team 2019-2020

3/5/2019

As part of the constant improvement of the Chippewa Falls High School band program, the Leadership Team has been having conversations around the student leader selection process, organization and structure, and the overall format of our Leadership Team.

In order to roll out these proposed changes and gather feedback, there will be Leadership Team meeting during Prime Time on Thursday, March 14, 2019.

There are two documents being posted here for you to review before the meeting next week.
