Good morning CFHS Band Fam!
The day has arrived - fruit delivery! I know you have been anxiously watching this day approach on your calendar just as I have - it is it's own mini holiday!
We are hoping to organize pick-up a little differently this year to both help keep things moving slowly and to cut down on pick-up errors.
We suggest the following timing for order pick-up:
3:00 pm: Anyone with $500 or more in sales
3:30 pm: Students with 1-2 boxes (or a few more if riding the bus)
4:00 pm: Last names A-L
4:30 pm: Last names M-Z
If 4:00 pm works for you but your last name is Renneke, we won't turn you away. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding as you pick-up your fruit. We could still use a few more volunteers to help confirm orders.
The money is due Wednesday, December 19th and checks should be made out to CFHS.
This is the scoring guide for the Peer Assessment Worksheet.
Students completed Peer Assessments in class with their stand partner or neighbor.
"Concert dress" is the term used to describe what to wear for a particular performance.
For football games and marching competitions, our concert dress is our marching band uniform.
For our more formal concert performances in the auditorium, our concert dress is what we in the music department lovingly call "concert black".
We ask students to wear all black, formal clothing. That means black dress pants and a black dress shirt. It might also mean an appropriate-length black dress, or a nice black sweater with no writing. Black jeans and a black hooded sweatshirt would not be appropriate for the formal nature of our concert performances.

Students answered this question in class during rehearsal.
"... the best atmosphere in the Big Rivers Conference."
-- 103.1 WOGO Radio
Students receive 2 points per game towards earning a letter in band. Attendance at basketball pep band is encouraged as we support our teams and provide an incredible atmosphere for home games.
All of the games on this schedule start at 7:15pm. Pay attention to announcements at school and in class for changes to this schedule.
Playoff games will be determined as they arise.
CFHS Band Fam:
First, I want to wish you all a restful break next week. Parents, you should hear lots of practicing from your students as they prepare on their own for our concert which is rapidly approaching.
Second, if you are planning on traveling with the music department on our Performance Tour to New Orleans, please double check that your name is on the attached list. If you think are going on the trip, and your name isn't on the list, please get in touch with Ren right away.
In the next few days I will be going through the money turned in with today's 2nd Payment and your students will be receiving an updated statement in their email.
Finally, remember that the fruit order forms are due on the MONDAY we return from break. Hit your family up for some fruit around the Thanksgiving table.
Let me know if you have any questions!
Hello Music Families,
We have some delightful Winter Concerts to look forward to this season--and even a little snow to get you in the mood! Please consider helping out by ushering one of the concerts. Ushers primarily have to stuff and hand out programs, and then keep an eye on the door to make sure that people only enter and exit between songs. One usher will actually be posted in the hallway, to monitor the doors from there, but the other 4 will be able to watch the concerts. Follow the sign up link below. As always, thank you so much for all that you do to help our amazing music programs, bringing out the best in all of our kids.

For starters, I thought it would be nice to share out some great recordings of different instrumental ensembles. Listening to musicians play YOUR instrument at a very high level can help develop your own understanding of characteristic sound.
Varsity Band Fam:
Below are some resources that might prove practical in your personal preparation of our concert music.
Additionally, this is our rehearsal plan and practice targets. These will be shared with you in class, but the practice targets will help you focus your personal preparation.
